Please read this before you rely on anything on outdoorsauna.uk. It’s written in plain English, but it matters.

General information, not advice

Everything on this site, including the calculators, is general information to help you research a purchase. It isn’t planning, legal, building control, electrical, gas, financial or any other professional advice, and it doesn’t take account of your property or your circumstances. Before you buy or build, check the things that matter with the right person: your council, a registered electrician, a Gas Safe registered engineer, a competent stove installer, a solicitor or your insurer.

Planning and building rules

  • Our planning permission checker and planning guides summarise the published permitted development rules for each UK nation, as we read them on 30 September 2026. Rules and official guidance change.
  • They only work with the answers you give. They can’t check your measurements, your home’s planning history (such as an Article 4 direction or a condition on a past permission), local restrictions, or anything in your deeds or lease.
  • Your council decides whether you need planning permission or building regulations approval, and making sure your sauna complies is your responsibility. If you want certainty before you buy, ask your council for a lawful development certificate, or the equivalent where you live.
  • Meeting the planning rules doesn’t protect you from a neighbour’s complaint, for example about smoke, noise or something built over the boundary.

Safety

The maker’s installation and operating instructions come first, ahead of anything on this site. In England and Wales, a new electrical circuit to a sauna is notifiable work: use a registered electrician. Use a Gas Safe registered engineer for gas work and a competent installer for a stove and flue. We don’t give health advice, and we make no health claims for saunas.

Prices, specifications and retailers

  • Prices and specifications are what each retailer stated on its own page when we checked, on the date shown. They change, and they can be wrong at source. The retailer’s own page and checkout are what count.
  • We don’t sell anything. If you buy, your contract is with the retailer, on its terms. A retailer’s warranty is in addition to your legal rights as a consumer, not instead of them.
  • Where we describe a retailer’s terms, we quote or summarise what its own pages said on the date we checked. If you’re a retailer and something is wrong or out of date, email us with the link and we’ll check it and correct it promptly.
  • Our picks follow rules we publish in our methodology. They aren’t endorsements, and we haven’t tested the products.

Calculators and estimates

Calculator results are estimates, based on your inputs, published figures and the assumptions stated on each calculator. Real prices, installation costs, electrical requirements, running costs and planning outcomes can differ.

Embedding our calculators

You’re welcome to embed our calculators on your own site, free, using the code on each calculator’s page, as long as you keep the credit link and show the calculator unchanged, including its notes. Please don’t present the results as professional advice from you or from us.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that can’t be limited or excluded by law.

If you spot a mistake, email hello@outdoorsauna.uk. We fix confirmed errors as soon as we can and record changes to the data in the changelog.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
