Who writes this site

outdoorsauna.uk is an independent site, built and maintained by one person, Rick, in the UK. It isn’t owned by any sauna retailer or manufacturer. Pages carry the site’s name, not a personal byline, because what you’re relying on here is the data and the sources, not a personality: every price and spec can be traced to the retailer’s own page, and each guide lists the sources it rests on. The site exists because buying a garden sauna in the UK is harder than it should be. Prices are spread across two dozen retailers, specs are described in different ways, heaters are sometimes included and sometimes not, and it’s hard to tell which “best sauna” articles are independent. So we built the dataset first: every garden sauna we can find for sale in the UK, with the numbers that matter, checked against each retailer’s own page. The guides explain it.

How the pages are written and checked

We’re open about this, because you can’t see a byline:

• The data comes first. Listings are collected from retailers’ own pages with software, including AI-assisted extraction, and every figure is traced back to the page it came from. A sample is re-checked independently.
• The guides are drafted with AI assistance, from that data and from the sources cited on each page: heater makers’ manuals, official guidance and the retailers’ own terms.
• Then they’re checked. Before a page goes live, a separate check compares what it says with those sources, and we change or cut anything that doesn’t hold up.
• We haven’t tested the saunas, and we don’t pretend to.
• Nobody outside writes for us. There are no guest posts, sponsored articles or paid placements.

The garden and interior scenes are AI-generated illustrations, labelled “Illustration” wherever they appear. They show the kind of sauna being discussed, not a specific product. The full method is on our methodology page, and what changed and when is in the changelog.

How the site makes money

Some of the links to retailers are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer may pay us a commission. You pay the same price either way. We join retailers’ affiliate programmes, most of them run through the Awin network, and that commission is what pays for the research, the checking and the hosting.

What commission doesn’t do:

• It doesn’t decide what we list. We list every sauna we can find from UK retailers, whether or not they pay us. Plenty of the retailers in our tables don’t.
• It doesn’t decide how we rank. Tables sort by price, size or height. Our picks are chosen by published rules that don’t know who pays commission.
• It doesn’t buy a review. We don’t accept payment or free products for coverage. If we ever review a sauna we’ve used ourselves, it will say so, with our own photos.

Links to retailers carry a rel="sponsored" tag so search engines know they may be commercial.

Our data is free to use

The full dataset is free to download under CC BY 4.0. Journalists and researchers are welcome to use it with a credit.
