Steam & Oak saunas: range, prices and heater options

Steam & Oak sells the widest range of garden saunas in our data: its own barrels, cubes, pods and cabins, many in thermally modified timber, plus Holl’s barrels, cubes and pod, and FinSteam gas sauna tents. The thing to understand first is the pricing. Most of its saunas are listed as a shell, without a heater, with electric, wood-fired and gas heaters as options that change the price. Everything below was checked on Steam & Oak’s own pages on 30 September 2026.

Steam & Oak saunas: full range and prices

Prices include VAT. Each row shows the date we checked it against the retailer's own page; the latest check was 30 September 2026. Prices change: the retailer's checkout price is what counts. Height chips show the retailer's stated height: green 2.5 m or lower, amber taller. That's before your base, and it isn't a planning check (see why 2.5 m matters). “Not recorded” means we could not confirm the figure on the retailer's page.

The price shown is the base listing, usually the version without a heater. The heater column says “Not included” where that’s the case.

Heater options: what they add

Steam & Oak’s listings show the price with each heater option, so you can see exactly what the heater costs. Across the listings we read:

• A Harvia electric heater (The Wall at 4.5 kW to 8 kW, or a Cilindro at 6.8 kW or 9 kW) adds about £450 to £800. Wi-Fi versions add about £500 to £1,700 depending on the model, and the 10.8 kW Harvia Legend about £2,200.
• A Harvia M-series wood-burning stove adds about £500 to £770, with the chimney and stones included on the listings that say so. Some models offer the M3 SL, fed through the wall from outside.
• A FinSteam gas heater (Botnia 81 or Aurora 81) adds about £1,700 to £2,600, depending on the model and whether you take the safety pack. Steam & Oak says the flue is fitted and the heater commissioned on installation day.

Size the heater for the model you choose with our heater size calculator, and remember an electric heater also needs its own circuit: our electrical supply calculator shows what it will draw.

Thermowood or spruce

33 of the 76 listings mention thermally modified timber, either as standard or as an option. Several models are sold in Nordic spruce with a thermowood upgrade at a higher price; the table shows the base version. Thermal modification heats the timber with steam, with no added chemicals, which permanently lowers the moisture it takes up and increases its resistance to rot.

Gas saunas and FinSteam tents

Steam & Oak is the only retailer in our data selling gas-fired saunas: FinSteam’s portable tents and gas options on its own cabins and barrels. The tents start at £795 for the tent alone; packages with the heater, stones and a UK gas kit cost more. See sauna tents for every tent we list.

Every model we could measure is 2.5 m or lower

All 55 Steam & Oak saunas with a stated height are 2.5 m or lower, so before you add a base, they’re under the 2.5 m limit that applies within 2 m of a boundary in England and Wales. The limit includes the base, though, and 10 of them are 2.4 m or taller, so a raised base could take them over. Check the rest of the rules for your garden with the planning permission checker.

Delivery, lead times and warranty

In short: free kerbside delivery to mainland UK, a quote for the Highlands and islands, £195 to Northern Ireland. Lead times vary by model from a couple of weeks to several months. Warranty terms are on each product page; the most common is “two years on the structure and on the heater”. A construction service is offered from £500.

How Steam & Oak compares

Most Steam & Oak prices are without a heater, so add one before comparing with saunas that include it. The garden sauna cost calculator does the sum.
